What is a Wireless Reselect?

A wireless reselect is a troubleshooting step for reconnecting to a wireless network. Do not perform this step unless your Sky Angel receiver is having trouble connecting to your wireless network. This is indicated on the Network Configuration screen. If you have lost connection to your wireless network your LQ will be 0/100 and/or the box will have failed to obtain an IP address (DHCP IP: DHCP Failed) There are two ways to perform a wireless reselect. Both ways will be explained on this page. Before peforming a wireless reselect, you should try a Power Cycle.



What are the two types of Wireless Reselects?

  1. Soft Reselect - simply scans for your network and tries to reconnect, using your current settings.
  2. This is useful if your Sky Angel box has simply lost connection to your wireless network.

  3. Hard Reselect - erases all network settings and begins the network connection from the beginning
  4. This is for when your network information has changed, you have a new wireless router/gateway, etc.
  1. To perform a soft wireless reselect, navigate to the System Configuration screen.
    Select Network Configuration:


  2. You will see the Network Configuration screen, select WLAN:


  3. You will see the WiFi Setup screen:


  4. Press the INFO BUTTON (above the SETUP button) on your Sky Angel remote.
    You will see Please wait, scanning AP...

  5. You will then see Choose A Wireless Network.
    Select your network from the list, then press PLAY.


  6. Navigate to the Return arrow on the keyboard (lower left hand corner) and press PLAY on the remote.


  7. You will be returned to the Network Configuration screen.
    If successful, you should have an LQ and an IP address.


  8. If you are unsuccessful you may want to try the Hard Wireless Reselect.
