Programming an exisiting TiVo box to recognize the Sky Angel STB
(If this is your first time setting up your TiVo you may skip to step 5)
- On TiVo Central, select Read new Messages and
Settings.
- On Messages & Settings, select Restart or Reset
System.
- On Restart or Reset System, choose Repeat Guided
Setup.
- On Repeat Guided Setup, press Thumbs Down (on the
TiVo remote) three times, and then press ENTER to
continue.
Setting up Sky Angel and TiVo using Guided Setup
- You see the Welcome Screen. Press
SELECT on the TiVo Remote to begin.
- Enter your 5-digit ZIP code in the space provided using
your TiVo Remote.
- Choose Satellite only or Satellite & Cable (Without a
cable box) as the TV Programming Source. If you have
basic cable connected to your TiVo also, you must select
Satellite and Cable on this screen. You will have to configure TiVo for that service as well.
- Choose TiVo Service Connection. Select whether you want to connect the TiVo box to
your internet or phone connection. If you are unsure as to which would be a better
option, choose “I’m not sure; help me choose.”
Note: If you are using a wireless connection, you will need to select your ESSID or wireless
name and enter your Security key.
- The TiVo box will now access your internet connection
to get Setup Information—this process can take
between 10-30 minutes depending on the speed of your
internet connection. This will take you through several
screens. Just follow the directions on screen.
- Once the TiVo box is updated, choose your Satellite
Provider. In this case, you will choose Sky Angel.
- You should now see a message (just as on the screen to
the left) that says, “Your satellite channels are now
setup.” Press SELECT on your TiVo remote
- On the Satellite Box Brand screen, select Transvideo.
- The TiVo box will now verify that your IR blaster is properly connected. This is crucial
as without the IR blaster, the TiVo box will not be able to control the Sky Angel STB and
the programming will not work properly.
- On the Satellite “Enter” Button page, make sure “No (typical)” is selected.

Your TiVo will now verify how best to work with your
Sky Angel test. This test will try several Sky Angel
channels (usually about five). Follow the onscreen
directions and press SELECT when necessary. These
tests may take some time.
- You will now be on the Getting Program Info screen. This test may take several minutes.
Press SELECT once the test is completed.
- Congratulations! Once the tests finish, you are ready to watch your Sky Angel using
your TiVo service! Just press the TiVo Button on the TiVo remote to continue. You will
reach a screen that says Program Info Received. Now the Sky Angel IPTV and all of
TiVo’s features are available for you to watch at your leisure.
Software Update Issues
Sky Angel recently released a software update that includes a screensaver feature.
The Sky Angel receiver will now display a screen saver if a static menu page is shown for longer than four minutes. The screen saver will also activate if you are listening to a radio channel. The radio channel can still be heard, but the screensaver will be displayed to protect your television screen. The screensaver will not activate if a television channel or Video on Demand title is being watched. If you wish to use the TiVo timer function for recording a Sky Angel program, you must now leave the Sky Angel receiver on a live channel. Unlike before the upgrade,
you can no longer leave the Sky Angel receiver box on the programming guide if you have timed automatic recordings set.
